Lyngby Boldklub suffered a clear 4-0 defeat to Silkeborg IF on Friday evening. The loss ended a five-match unbeaten run and was the team's first defeat since August 10.
The match turned decisively after the break. Simon Colyn was shown a red card for a hard tackle, and with a man down on the pitch, Lyngby could not keep up. Silkeborg's 22-year-old Villads Westh was decisive with a goal and two assists. The first goal came in the first half when Alexander Priesborg headed in from a corner.
The young 18-year-old Malthe Hansen put an end to the evening with Silkeborg's fourth goal five minutes from time. Diego Kochen was in goal for Lyngby but could not save the team from the heavy away defeat.
Defeat sets team back
The defeat means Lyngby remain in 10th place in the Superliga with seven points after nine games. The team's last five results read DDLLW. The next challenge awaits on October 18, when third-placed FC Nordsjaelland visit.
The loss in Silkeborg was a clear setback after the positive run. The team's top scorer this season, Ísak Þorvaldsson, has three goals but could not make his mark on this game. To reverse the trend, the squad must rediscover the defensive solidity that characterised them earlier in the autumn. See the full team squad and statistics here.
