Lyngby Boldklub suffered a stunning collapse at home, surrendering a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 with FC Nordsjaelland on Sunday. The dramatic Superliga match in round 11 leaves manager Mikkel Jespersen's side bottom of the standings with just seven points from ten games, a record of one win, four draws and five losses. The team has scored 12 goals but conceded 21, giving them a goal difference of minus nine.

Simon Colyn put Lyngby ahead in the 17th minute after an assist from Frederik Gytkjær. Gustav Leone Fraulo doubled the lead just after the half-hour mark, and when Gytkjær scored the third goal in the 61st minute, set up by Colyn, victory seemed certain. Then the match turned completely.

FCN's wild comeback

FC Nordsjaelland, who made three substitutions at half-time, sparked back into life. Justin Janssen pulled one back in the 71st minute, and three minutes later Runar Robinsonn Norheim made it 2-3. The decisive equaliser came from Malte Heyde in the 77th minute, completing a six-minute goal blitz from the visitors. In added time, FCN were even awarded a penalty, but Nicklas Rojkjaer hit the post, allowing Lyngby to escape with a point.

"Lyngby were ahead 3-0 but had to settle for 3-3 against FC Nordsjaelland, who missed a penalty at the very end," noted Ritzau after the match. The team has now gone five matches without a win, with recent results reading L, L, D, D. This late defensive fragility has become a recurring issue, following losses to Brondby and Hvidovre after taking leads. Their recent form over the last five matches is zero wins, two draws and three losses. The precise results in that period include the 3-3 draw with FC Nordsjaelland, a 5-2 loss to Brondby, a 3-4 loss to Hvidovre, a 0-4 loss to Silkeborg and a 1-1 draw with Sonderjyske.

Mikkel Jespersen started with a 4-4-2 formation featuring Diego Kochen in goal and Isak Thorvaldsson, the team's top scorer this season with three goals in ten appearances, up front alongside Gytkjær. The team had to substitute the injured Munashe Garananga after just seven minutes, disrupting plans early. The match was also marked by numerous bookings, with FC Nordsjaelland receiving six yellow cards to Lyngby's three.

The next challenge comes on Sunday 25 October, with Lyngby travelling to face a strong FC Midtjylland side sitting second in the table. The last meeting between the sides ended 1-1 in August. The team needs to find stability, especially defensively, to turn the negative trend around. With just seven points, they now trail league leaders FC Copenhagen by a significant margin of 17 points.

Manager Mikkel Jespersen has now reacted to the collapse. He told the press: "It's a game we should have won. We lose concentration in the crucial minutes." The team now sits in 12th place with eight points from 11 games and has scored 15 goals but conceded 24.
