Lyngby Boldklub have officially secured the signing of midfield talent Zidan Sertdemir. The 21-year-old Dane has put pen to paper on a four-year contract, arriving from German club Preußen Münster.
The club finds itself in a challenging position in the Superliga, sitting 11th with just three points from six matches. They are yet to win a game this season, and with a goal difference of -4 (7 scored, 11 conceded), new impetus is needed. Their most recent result was a 1-1 draw at home to Odense on August 30th.
Who is the new midfielder?
Zidan Sertdemir is no stranger to Danish football. He already has 29 Superliga appearances to his name from spells at FC Nordsjælland and Brøndby IF. His career took a notable turn at age 16 when he became Bayer Leverkusen's youngest ever Bundesliga debutant. After a year in Germany, he returned to FC Nordsjælland in 2023 before heading south again to join Preußen Münster in 2025. Now he returns home to establish himself at Lyngby.
Sporting director Nicas Kjeldsen highlights the player's potential. "When the opportunity arises to bring a player of Zidan's quality and potential to Lyngby Boldklub, we must be ready to act," said Kjeldsen. He added, "He has some individual qualities that are hard to find, and at the same time he is still only 21."
Where does he fit into the squad?
The arrival of Sertdemir is a direct response to the team's poor start to the season, where their last five matches have yielded three draws and two losses. The next challenge is a home fixture against similarly struggling Sønderjyske on September 13th, which you can track on our fixtures page. With O. Snorre currently sidelined, there is a need for fresh legs in midfield.
Sertdemir's profile as a technically strong and creative player could provide Lyngby with the extra spark they've been missing. His experience from both Danish and German football makes him an interesting addition. The team's current league standing, 12 points behind leaders FC Copenhagen, demands action, and this transfer is a clear signal of intent.
What does the contract length mean?
The four-year deal shows that Lyngby Boldklub view Sertdemir as a long-term investment. It gives the young player stability to develop and find his place in Frede Rüsz's system. The club's squad overview now gains a new name, one that will hopefully help turn the tide. For fans following the standings, it's clear that points need to be earned soon to avoid being stuck at the bottom.
Zidan Sertdemir is ready to start training with his new teammates, and his first chance to play could come against Sønderjyske in just over a week.
