Lyngby Boldklub secures Barca keeper Diego Kochen on loan

Lyngby Boldklub has this summer loaned 20‑year‑old goalkeeper Diego Kochen from FC Barcelona's first team. Although he has only been on the bench in Spain, he now gets regular minutes in Denmark's 1. Division, where the club currently sits first with 42 points after 22 games (12W‑6D‑4L) and a recent form of LLWWL.

Why is Kochen important for Lyngby?

Sporting director Nicas Kjeldsen says young keepers need game time, and Lyngby can provide exactly that. Kochen is described as a modern goalkeeper with strong feet, good shot‑stopping and high athleticism. His time at Barcelona gave him training with world‑class players, but a lack of debut means he now must prove himself in a competitive league.

Who competes for the goalkeeper spot?

Lyngby already has Oskar Snorre in the goalkeeper squad together with former Brøndby keeper Jonathan Ægidius. Kjeldsen notes that Ægidius had a strong season, especially in the autumn, and that healthy competition will lift the whole team. Kochen is expected to complement Snorre and Ægidius, helping the club maintain its solid defensive record of 25 goals conceded this season.

What does the loan deal mean for the future?

The agreement includes a purchase option, allowing Lyngby to keep Kochen permanently if he proves successful. The club hopes he can eventually reach the big European stages, but initially the goal is to give him the needed minutes while strengthening the defensive stability that has kept them three points ahead of Hvidovre.

What can we expect next?

With Kochen on the bench and a strong goalkeeper pool, Lyngby can continue their push for promotion. The team has already scored 49 goals and enjoys a +24 goal difference, so extra security in goal could be the edge in the tight matches that lie ahead in the remainder of the season.
