Lyngby Boldklub have strengthened their squad with the signing of midfielder Sanders Ngabo. The Danish player joins the club on a season-long loan deal from Swedish side BK Häcken.
The Greater Copenhagen club have negotiated an option to buy as part of the agreement, which could make the move permanent. Ngabo is currently undergoing his medical at Lundtoftevej and will sign his contract afterwards. The news comes as the team sits 11th in the Superliga with just three points from six games, ten points behind leaders FC Nordsjaelland.
What does Ngabo's return mean for Lyngby?
Sanders Ngabo is no stranger to Lyngby Boldklub. He came through the club's own youth academy and made his first-team debut there. After a spell at AC Horsens and a move to BK Häcken a year ago, he now returns as an established top-flight player. His task will be to help stabilise a team currently struggling for wins. Their last five results show zero wins, three draws and two losses, and they have scored only seven goals while conceding eleven.
The club's next challenge is a tough away fixture against second-placed Viborg on the 4th of September. You can check the full schedule on our fixtures page.
How does the deal with BK Häcken work?
BK Häcken bought Ngabo from AC Horsens one year ago for a transfer fee. The Swedes gave him a long contract running until the end of 2029. The loan deal to Lyngby now gives the Danish club the chance to assess the player over a full season before deciding whether to trigger the purchase clause.
This type of agreement provides Lyngby with flexibility in a transfer window where they are likely looking at other options too. See the full squad here.
Where does Ngabo fit into the current squad?
The arrival of a defensively-minded midfielder like Ngabo is a direct response to the team's poor start to the season. With a goal difference of 7-11 and a recent form of DLDLD, the team needs more stability in the centre of the park. Ngabo is expected to compete for a starting spot immediately and bring experience from both the Danish and Swedish top divisions.
His presence could free up other creative forces in the team. Lyngby's most recent result was a 1-1 home draw with Odense on August 30th, a sign they can compete but lack the final edge. To follow the league's progress, check the standings.
The deal was secured ahead of competing interest, including from Superliga rivals Silkeborg IF. Sanders Ngabo will be available to the coaching staff after the contract signing, and his first possible appearance could be in the upcoming match.
